The Racial Equity Learning and Action Community (RELAC)
The Racial Equity Map (REM) is a comprehensive tool developed by the Racial Equity Learning and Action Community (RELAC) to help organizations advance their racial equity efforts. The REM provides a structured process to assess and improve an organization's journey toward racial equity. It addresses key systemic imbalances that disproportionately impact people with lived experiences of racism and outlines actionable steps to confront and address institutional racism.
The REM guides organizations through five steps: 1) Identifying participants, 2) Conducting individual assessments, 3) Analyzing scores, 4) Facilitating organizational discussions, 5) Planning actionable next steps
This tool is essential for organizations looking to evaluate their current practices, spark meaningful discussions, and implement concrete changes to advance racial equity. Through the REM, organizations can better align their policies, programs, and systems with their racial equity goals, ensuring that race is no longer a determinant of social, economic, or health outcomes
